From the bride…
When I started to plan our wedding it was around the time when the phrase “best day ever” was trending. This made me think about how I would describe my perfect day. I closed my eyes and thought of being relaxed on vacation with Alex, the beach, a light ocean breeze, a fruity drink, a hammock, and an amazing sunset. That is when I knew I wanted to recreate this perfect day I was visioning for the day of the wedding. This sparked the theme “Welcome to Paradise” that took on a boho twist to reflect my personal style. Picking a venue was easy – from the moment Alex and I started to drive down the hill to Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla and you see endless blue water it took our breath away. We booked it without having to see any other venues!
Our ceremony was on the grass beneath the swaying palm trees with the waves crashing behind us. Afterward guests enjoyed tropical signature drinks at Heidi & Alex’s Tiki Bar (hers – Pina Colada & his – Dark n’ Stormy) and had a ton of fun hitting the tiki bar cart where they could add an umbrella, stirrer, or fun straw. Passed appetizers took on a tropical twist including coconut shrimp, ahi tuna bites and exotic fruit popsicles. Continental catering also surprised me with the most amazing tropical cheese station setup! I had vintage furniture I collected brought in to create lots of fun seating areas to lounge in and take in the view – there was even a hammock of course!
I could not have pulled it off without the assistance of the incredible vendors (shout out to Alessandra at Details Darling) and help from my family. My talented uncles played guitar during our ceremony and my aunt baked the beautiful cake. I also loved that for the cards & gifts area I was able to incorporate the wood hope chest my late grandfather handmade as a gift for my parents on their wedding. I really felt like I was in paradise surrounded by all my loved ones. It really was the best day ever!
