We’re smitten with this sweet summer greenhouse wedding on our wedding blog today. The couple are high school sweethearts, and their longtime love for one another shows! Magdalena Studios captured every last glance and cuddle with their pup (who makes an excited appearance as they say “I Do”) throughout their long awaited big day. From the bride Marisa’s stunning fitted gown, to the pastel blooms that make up her bouquet, we love every detail. The garden setting for the ceremony and greenhouse for the reception give it that fresh summer feel, and as the summer sun sets, the newlyweds literally glow in its dimming light.
From the bride, Marisa…
When I first met Kyle in 2009, he was senior on the Varsity Basketball team and I was a Freshman. As a fifteen year old, I had no intentions of really pursuing someone who was a senior. But every young girl has a fantasy crush and for me, Kyle was that crush. I played soccer in the fall and during the winter I helped volunteer for the freshman boys basketball team. Not too long after, word had got back to Kyle and the next game he came up to me and confronted me saying, “So, you think I am cute?” and immediately my heart started to race, my face turned red and I nervously started to laugh and nod my head. And he hasn’t left me alone since. Kyle graduated high school and attended Stockton University and soon after I followed him. Kyle graduated and moved back home, while I finished my nursing degree. I commuted to school my last two years and we lived together during those two years in our home town.
My last year in nursing school, after eight years of dating, Kyle finally decided to propose. We always talked about the future since we first started dating and the future always had us in it. We knew we would marry each other one day when the time was right. Kyle proposed on December 16, 2016 at Long Wood Gardens in Pennsylvania. Christmas is my favorite holiday and I am sucker for going to see Christmas lights. So, what better way to propose than at Long Wood Gardens during Christmas time?
Leading up to the engagement, I was always searching for is it going to be now? or this day? I was always on guard thinking it would be any day or anytime we would do something. Some advice for those who feel the same way: stop searching for it, enjoy your time with your loved one and it will come when the time is ready and when you are least expecting it. So, no I did not know he was going to propose at Long Wood Gardens, but I can tell you it was for sure on my mind just as it was every day of each month leading up to it. The one thing that he did right before the proposal that made me question it was when he asked me to take a picture with him and let me tell you he is never offering to take pictures. It is usually me begging for just one more. So, we took a picture and he asked to retake it and that is when he went down on one knee. I really wish I could tell you what he said but in the moment I completely blacked out and only remember repeating “Stop Kyle, you’re kidding” over and over again. And of course I said YES! I was immediately on cloud nine, it was really happening and I was finally going to get to marry my best friend like we always had dreamed about!
Kyle and I had our dream wedding outside at our friends Garden Center in their newly renovated Greenhouse with all our family and friends. We were married on June 16, 2018, we built our forever home soon after, and now cannot wait to start a family, and have many more memories together as husband and wife.
