Mon Amie has been a top bridal destination for decades now! Tell us a little more about the salon and how it has developed!

Mon Amie originated because there was a need for a couture bridal salon that focused on style as well as customer service.  Our founder, Verna Huson, decided in 1976 to open “a nice little bridal salon”.  Mon Amie began with 800 square feet and two small dressing rooms.  It featured   20 wedding gowns, ten bridesmaids dresses, six veils, two hats, and a parasol.  Through the passion of Verna and her staff, the store grew exponentially.  Attention to detail and customer service was the corner stone of Mon Amie’s success.  In 1988, Mon Amie moved to its’ current location.   Throughout the 1990’s, Mon Amie became one of the largest bridal salons in the United States.  Today, the goal is still as it was in 1976.  We aim to provide brides with a curated designer collection as well as an unparalled experience.

Your inventory is incredible and so expansive! Are there certain styles or silhouettes you are seeing today’s brides gravitate towards?

There are two main avenues of style that brides gravitate to.   The first is trend is the body conscious gown.  These gowns are very fitted and usually feature a low back and / or a low front.  Brides love this look to show off their features.  The second trend is a nod toward tradition.  These brides love the fact that they are wearing a ball gown or sleeves similar to what they saw in their family wedding photos.  We are blessed in the sense that we have the ability to cater to both of these types of brides.

What is the best advice you could give a bride who comes into the salon to shop for her wedding gown for the very first time?

Shopping for your wedding gown should be a fun and joyful experience.  Many brides put an enormous amount of pressure not only on their family and friends but also on themselves.  We want our brides to relax and know that we are here to help them look and feel their very best on their big day.  We also love when brides do a little bit of research before they begin the gown selection process.  Looking through magazines and knowing the feel of your wedding can help a bride determine what she wants her overall look to be. We want our brides to know and understand that our stylists’ main goal is to listen to their brides wants and needs and ultimately make them feel exactly how they envisioned themselves.

This Heidi Elnora collection is beautiful! Tell us about these new styles! What do you and your brides love most about it?

The Heidi Elnora collection is absolutely marvelous.  We saw the gowns at New York Market and had to have the collection.  These gowns are little something different for our brides.  Heidi likes for her dresses to be a mixture of traditional, fun and a little something extra special.  Her gowns have this air about them that are brides are absolutely loving.  Whether it is the Scarlett Mitchellthat features layers upon layers of hand cut silk organza or the Ashley Diaz that has a clean front and a lace bodice back, her gowns give our brides that special feeling that you just can’t describe.  With the launch of her TLC show, “Bride by Design”, Heidi became a design star to our brides.  We love that we get to have a little piece of her in every one of her gowns.
