Nick and I technically met early on during our freshman year of college at the University of Minnesota. I ended up hanging out at his apartment with a group of friends and I thought he was the cutest guy I had ever seen, but…he didn’t notice me as much as I did him! From that point on, we went our separate ways until our sophomore year when one of my friends invited me to a get-together with some friends of hers, which just happened to be at Nick’s apartment. This time, the interest was actually mutual! To give some background, I’m 5’3” and Nick is a 6’5” former college football player. His pickup line that night was “I think you’re the shortest person that’s ever been in our apartment” … smooth, right?
From that point on, we were inseparable. Literally. I don’t think there was more than a week in total throughout the remaining 2.5 years of college that we didn’t spend together, and we loved every second of it! After we graduated, we moved to the beautiful state of Colorado together. About a year and a half after moving, we took a trip to Hawaii with my family and, on the night of Thanksgiving while Nick and I were on a walk near Kealakekua Bay, he got down on one knee and proposed! It was the perfect moment in the most beautiful place.
