Talk about a picturesque couple (the alleyway portraits will leave you breathless!), with beautiful hearts to match! Stephen and Alexa are busy bringing water to the world so planning a wedding was a time-crunched process (we’re talking 3 months people!), but by the looks of it the pair didn’t sacrifice any style! The Portland wedding is pretty darn amazing and so is hearing about how it all came together from the bride herself:
“Stephen and I work with a volunteer organization called JUSTICEWATER which means we travel a lot. We had previously committed to launching a long term team in Siem Reap, Cambodia so our options after we got engaged were: A) Plan a wedding in 3 months, or B) Wait.
We chose option “A” which meant we had to get our butts in gear. Within a week of our engagement the perfect venue appeared. A refurbished theater house in downtown Portland, OR.
My bridesmaids flew in from all over the world so coordinating dresses was hard and we wouldn’t have a chance to see them together until the day of the wedding. I just said neutrals with pink/purple/grey tones. I was so pleased and truthfully surprised at how well the colors and styles worked out!
2 days before the wedding some of my bridesmaids and I went to New Seasons and started grabbing bunches of flowers and we had an “arranging party”. We spent under 2 hours and $300 on floral
Stephen made the centerpieces- hehe
I bought the 3rd dress I tried on at the first shop we went to: Rosewood bridal boutique.
I wanted our wedding to be honoring to the Lord. I knew that began with planning and the way I interacted with people in the process. On what is supposed to be “my day”, true satisfaction wouldn’t come from having everything go as I had perfectly envisioned and coordinated… but in letting go, being flexible, trusting and appreciating the things I may not have otherwise. And I think that attitude- I hope that attitude has been carried into our marriage too.”
