If you could bottle up a year full of love, we think it would look something like this one year anniversary photoshoot. The couple, who reminisces on their (less than ideal, but still beautiful) big day below, chose to re-capture their most beloved memory from the day: the time they spent taking photos with one another. They flew their wedding photographer out to their new hometown in Arizona and had a magical anniversary shoot among wild horses. Lindsay, of Ivory + Bliss, says, “Danny and Amanda flew us out to Arizona for their gorgeous one year anniversary session. Lovers of style and fine art, they wanted a romantic, secluded location that was calm and beautiful, and that is just what we got. Wild horses roamed the background where we shot, and we had absolutely breathtaking light.”
The couple shares…
“Best day ever” is the anticipated phrase when I hear most people talk about their wedding day. Our wedding day was beautiful and it was certainly a day we’ll never forget, but it wasn’t our best day ever. Less than 48 hours before we said our vows, I was at the urgent care clinic, sobbing as the doctor told me that I was positive for influenza. A year of wedding planning ended with me in bed the two days before our wedding, my future husband handling all the last minute to-do items, and both of us feeling less than our best on our wedding day. Despite this, our most cherished memories from that day are the simple moments where it was just the two of us. I’ll forever treasure the feelings of peace and belonging when I saw my groom for the first time, and the joy and comfort I felt while we took photos together, where time seemed to stop and the only thing that mattered in those moments were the two of us.
Danny and I decided to do an anniversary shoot to experience again our most adored moments and redeem what I felt I had lost being sick on our wedding day. We got married in our hometown in Iowa, but wanted to do the shoot in Arizona, where we both now call home. Coon Bluff has the most beautiful desert scenery, and the wild horses that roam the area made it the obvious choice for the organic and ethereal setting we wanted. We were so lucky that Lindsay, our wedding photographer, agreed to fly to us for the shoot, which made it even more special. There is truly nothing like celebrating a love story, and we are so grateful to have photos that so beautifully capture the moments where time seemed to stand still, and that document our journey as husband and wife.
