What takes a nautical theme to a whole new level? Maybe a Newport Beach location? Or, moreso, a yacht venue. This shoot on our wedding blog today is meant to inspire the perfect seaside wedding. Complete with beachy waves, seafood fare, and sailing inspired decor (cue the life rafts and rope knots), it’s a wedding made for the water. Michelle Flores & Dillon Driscoll set their sights on the Balboa Bay Yacht Club for the shoot destination and brought in the perfect stylized decor to match!
From the photographers, Dillon and Michelle…
To top off the gorgeous seaside views, we decided to throw a classic nautical wedding on a yacht to create a truly picturesque bridal experience. To make sure all the vendors were on the same page, we created a storybook including design inspiration & a fresh color palette of salmon/white/gold & navy. We wanted to pay homage to a true “nautical” theme & decided to set up patio style furniture that resembled dock planks. Our tablescape design included classic white china on gold chargers, set with welcome seashell necklaces & personalized thank you notes. Our centerpiece was a rustic gold candelabra with draping seashells adorned with a greenery garland. It all looked so beautifully set accompanied by miniature sailors knots, deep sea ocean shells, & a wedding day love letter in a bottle.
Chef Kaya from No Left Over Catering provided us with refreshing ocean inspired h’orderves. First, he created sous vide compressed watermelon bites topped with puree of feta cheese and toasted pine nuts. It was the perfect appetizer for a warm summer day. He also carefully crafted delicious fresh strawberry mango shrimp ceviche mini tacos. They were beautifully displayed balancing on top of fresh cut limes accompanied by patron tequila lime shooters. Lastly, perhaps the most colorful & creative appetizer was the honey mascarpone stuffed dried apricots dipped in Turkish pistachios. It was such a gorgeous medley of color & flavor that was simply perfect for any seaside wedding.
To match the aesthetic of the shoot, we paired up with Bonny Bridal for our bride’s gown. We chose a vintage inspired gown to keep the brides look classic. To make our look complete, we selected a gorgeous beaded comb hand wired with Swarovski crystals & fresh water pearls by Brides & Hairpins. When choosing our groom’s look we decided on a navy suit with black label by Friar Tux. We chose the suit because it had a very cool two tone look that gave it a “modernized vintage ” feel. When both ensembles paired together they exuded a sense of class & romance that was just to die for!
