Colorado doesn’t need snow to be beautiful! This modern Colorado historic estate wedding is the perfect example of that. The beautiful ceremony space defines simplistic perfection. Focusing on the floral arch, your eye is immediately drawn to the couple. Don’t worry. Even a glance away from the arch gives you stunning views of the Colorado landscape. The reception space is the perfect sequel as we move away from the ceremony. It uses the same floral look to bind the two parts while creating a whole new indoor space.
The bride and groom shared the behind-the-scenes of this modern Colorado historic estate wedding,
We are both middle children of three and decided on having our siblings as our official bridal party. Our friends are such a huge part of our lives, we definitely wanted them to be a part of the celebrations, so we got ready with them and had to include them in some fun photos. Kelsey’s friends coordinated wearing bright, bold color dresses and they looked incredible all together!
We live in Boston and Denver was the perfect destination because we have close family who lives there and we both grew up visiting Colorado. Once we decided on Denver as the destination, we picked the venue quickly. I fell in love with the Manor House instantly. We loved how the traditional elegance of the historic mansion contrasted with the natural beauty of the red rocks and mountains as a backdrop. Many of our guests would be visiting Colorado for the very first time, and it was truly the perfect venue to show off the natural beauty of the area.
We chose one of Kelsey’s best friends – they first met in kindergarten – to officiate our ceremony, and it was such a special touch to have somebody who saw the full trajectory of our relationship and who was there from the very beginning. We wrote our own vows and both unknowingly referenced the same parts of our early dating life and everybody was laughing and crying. It was truly perfect.
As the day went on…
Of course, we had to nod to our incredible proposal at the wedding – our signature cocktail drink “The I Want It That Way Spritz” two ways – a Campari and olive garnish for Mike’s Way and Aperol and orange garnish for Kelsey’s Way – and the string quartet learned a Backstreet Boys song just for us.
We left most of the decor to the professionals, but we did make the table numbers ourselves, which were our favorite part of the reception. We designed them with our childhood photos – each table number featured a photo of us at the corresponding age (i.e. Table 1 – we were 1 year old; table 2, photos of us at age 2, etc.). Our guests absolutely loved this personal touch. It was also fun for our families to go through old photo albums in the process. We found some real gems! I, for one, am grateful we had a smaller celebration and didn’t need to go too deep into the tween/teen years. Nobody needs to relive that phase again! Our florist created a beautiful floral arch and where we hung the table assignments on black ribbon.
We’ve added a new favorite location to our wedding list! Colorado has outdone itself. If you are in the process of trying to find the perfect place for your special day, look no further.
