So You Want a Destination Wedding

Thinking about having a destination wedding? We recruited some wedding experts to weigh in on our wedding blog on whether you should head out of town for your wedding or stay local. Here are their opinions and tips!

We have to say that we love destination weddings! There is something magical about transporting your guests to a different place and creating an entire weekend based all around your love. How great to allow the people who are going to witness you intertwine your lives together have some special moments to get to know one another prior to the wedding! The great thing is that “destination” does not have to mean an airplane flight away. Many couples are choosing to go just few hours outside of their hometown to create that destination feel without the travel woes and costs for their guests.

Why a local wedding may be better?
1) celebrate with more family members and friends
2) easier to plan activities for out of town guests
3) doesn’t cost as much for guests to attend
4) no language barrier (if another country)

Destination wedding have become more popular in recent years, for good reason! About 30% of our couples are planning their destination wedding in California and we love to help them spoil their guests for an entire weekend of California-style celebration and love. Don’t feel limited to host your destination wedding in a tropical locale. Choose a spot that is special to you, says something about your story or your future, and it will be that much more memorable for your guests – even if it is just a few hours away from your everyday. Moreover, with so many couples choosing to delay their official honeymoon for a few months or even a year, a destination wedding provides a great opportunity to enjoy a mini-moon immediately following their nuptials! A true win-win for everyone involved!
