The bride shares…
When I met Todd at Denison University in the spring of 2011, he was a senior and I was a freshman. Shortly after, when Todd graduated in May, we began our long-distance relationship, which would continue for the next 5 years, spanning mere states at first while I finished undergrad, and later oceans while Todd was attending medical school in the Caribbean.
In April of 2015 on one of the first sunny days of spring, Todd brought me to the Chicago Botanical Garden to see a birding exhibit. I was excited to see it, as was Todd since he picked up this interest in an ornithology class at Denison, but for some reason I couldn’t find it. I was too busy looking for it to realize what was going on around me until Todd got down on one knee and said, “Julia, I really love you a lot and I would be honored if you would marry me”, to which I replied “there’s no birding exhibit is there?” Needless to say, I was so surprised and overjoyed and immediately said yes.
The next two years of wedding planning flew by. On Saturday, June 24th, 2017 Todd and I got married at the Congress Club in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, where my family’s lake house is located. The Congress Club is one of our favorite places to spend time together and we knew we wanted to have our wedding there from the beginning. The breathtaking beauty of the lake combined with the rich history of the Congress Club made it the perfect place to start our future together.
