Thanksgiving is one of our favorite holidays, so we aren’t surprised many couples choose to get married on Thanksgiving. What more could you want for your wedding than for it to be full of family, food, and gratitude? This couple said ‘I Do’ in an intimate fall farmhouse wedding. Afterwords, they enjoyed a traditional Thanksgiving meal with their guests. Talk about the epitome of an Autumn wedding! The bright white and rustic farmhouse served as the perfect setting and backdrop. It allowed the decor to truly shine. Deep burgundy blooms, pops of powder blue, and extravagant greenery added plenty of color to the space. Vintage furniture, medicine bottles, and antique carts also added character to every vignette. Photographer Ellen Ashton describes the couple’s love story in addition to the inspiration below.
Ellen Ashton shares…
This love story began years ago when Zak first spotted Ashley from across the room at a friends birthday party. Zak later said he knew she was the one the first time he saw her. At the time they lived in different cities and after a casual night of small talk and great cocktails the two parted ways. Two years later Ashley relocated to Houston, Texas and the two bumped into each other at a dinner party at a mutual friends home. The night was spent sharing incredible food and laughter and flirty gazes across the room. As the night went on, the guests began to leave… but Ashley and Zac stayed late into the night talking about everything from their work, their preferred drink and their favorite recipe.
The first date went on without a hitch as the two shared a delicious meal and a walk through the park. They then shared their first kiss under a beautiful big oak tree. It was that moment that they both knew a wedding day was in their future. Ashley and Zak enjoyed every moment of their love journey, many days and nights spent celebrating with friends over great food. The fall air was just right the night Zak proposed under the stars and the twinkling lights he perfectly placed on her parents back porch. He also had her family and their closest friends waiting to celebrate inside. But not until they enjoyed a dance under the lights to their favorite Randy Rogers song.
The pair decided to celebrate their marriage by sitting around a table with their closest friends, enjoying incredible food, just like the night they met. The farm to table food filled the bellies and the souls of their guests. The couple also chose to hand write each guest a note showing their appreciation for the love, time and relationships that they have with them. Custom cocktails designed specifically for the couple filled the glasses of each guest. Furthermore, personalization echoed through the evening with a favorite red velvet cake and monogramed sugar cookies. The fall air breathed a refreshing breath of life over the day and on into the evening. All the while the newlyweds enjoyed their intimate marriage celebration.
And they lived happily ever after! We want to hear your favorite part of this fall wedding. Tell us in the comments!
