Colorful San Francisco Engagement by Taylor Lord

While we love getting engagement images submitted to Inspired by This, we always get extra excited to hear the story behind the ring!  So when the amazing Taylor Lord shared these gorgeous images of Missy and Derek with us and gave us the back story we were giddy to share it will all of you!

From the bride-to-be…

“Our story began in the busy hallways of junior high when Derek and I found ourselves sitting next to each other in Texas history. We both had a real knack for pushing each other’s buttons, and if someone had told us then that we would be getting married today, our reaction would not have been pretty.  We went through high school running in different circles of friends, so it wasn’t until college that we re-connected.  Luckily, life gave us time to grow and mature before bringing us together again.  Despite attending different universities and living a hundred miles away, it was comical how many times we would randomly run into each other. Parties, restaurants, libraries you name it. The universe was telling us something. So eventually we listened. We re-kindled our friendship and discovered our mutual love for dogs, Sunday brunch, and the Houston Rockets. Fast forward seven years, a move to California, and three graduate degrees later- Derek proposes to me during my family’s yearly Secret Santa exchange.  My sixth sense and uncanny ability to ruin surprises was caught off guard when he presented the final gift to me after adamantly refusing to participate in the first place.  You can imagine the surprise and roar of 25 people and 8 dogs in a living room when he pulled out a tiny box and got down on one knee.  I was shocked and speechless realizing that the boy who sat next to me in Texas History was asking to be by my side for the rest of our lives.  In less than a month we will be tying the knot in Austin,Texas as our friends and loved ones witness us promise to be buddies for life.  I couldn’t be more excited to marry my best friend and look forward to life as a married couple.”

Friends since Jr. High!?  A secret Santa exchange proposal?!  Are you dying from this cuteness yet!?  Well if that didn’t get you (but it probably did) then we’re pretty sure Missy’s outfits will.  She has the cutest style, mixing everything from polka dots to lace with lots of bright pops of color.  Derek is right on trend too though with his chambray, gingham, and striped shirts and those fun boat shoes.  A couple that dresses well together stays together perhaps!?  Thanks again to (new!)
