Combine bright beautiful blooms, Mexican serape style linens, and colorful glassware and you get an elegant Mexican Fiesta inspired wedding like this – just what designers, Crosby + Jon, were going for when the bride and groom came to them with this cultural vision. We are loving the pretty, color punched & fun result, that was no doubt a lively celebration!
From the designers at Crosby + Jon:
Alisa and Greg reached out to us two years ago and we were immediately drawn to their earthiness and energy. The couple wanted to throw a colorful Mexican fiesta filled with color, yet still wanted their big day to be an elegant and romantic event to remember. This can be a challenge, but it was just our kind of challenge! After searching, the couple was excited to choose Serra Plaza in San Juan Capistrano as their setting. With San Juan’s history deeply rooted in Mexican culture and cuisine, and Serra Plaza’s Spanish-style stone architecture, we thought this was an ideal canvas to work with.
As event designers, we have had the good fortune to attend many real fiestas throughout Mexico, so our vision was to create a truly authentic celebration, but of course with a romantic twist. To create that old-world feeling, we started by bringing in warm wooden tables, rustic mixed chairs from Archive Rentals. Next, color! Our inspiration for color palette came from Santiago and Mayan cultures: Rich purple blooms, vibrant corals and deep ocean teal. We set the tables with this carefully chosen spectrum of linens from La Tavola, then added vibrant glassware and tabletop from Archive Rentals. We finished the look with bright, lush florals from Krista Jon, bringing the colors together perfectly. We lit the intimate tree-lined courtyard with a combination of string lights, chandeliers, and of course candlelight. During the party, guests relaxed in lounge vignettes comprised of tufted sofas, colorful rugs, rustic coffee tables and soft poufs and pillows, all from Archive Rentals. Wine barrels, wood crates and colorful glass cake stands created a unique one-of-a-kind dessert display, which is always a guest favorite. The caterer, Sundried Tomato, created a delicious authentic Mexican meal, and planner Donna Urban made sure the events of the night went seamlessly.
Alisa and Greg were radiant as they dined in the glow of candles, followed by dancing with their friends and family to mariachi and DJ music. The air was festive and filled with romance as everyone celebrated long into the night. Alisa and Greg’s wedding came together to be the truly the vibrant Mexican fiesta they had wanted, yet with romance they could have hoped for. Mucho amour para Alisa and Greg!
