Photographer, Daidri Smythe, says, Two teachers marry with a book theme and titled their wedding “The Tale of Two Teachers” in honor of their love for reading. Their book theme was partnered with decor and a color palette inspired by their travels throughout France and Europe. Here is a bit more about their wedding from the bride…
“I was drawn to wedding images that had neutral color palates and elegant decor. My husband did not have many – really any – preferences for what the wedding would look like, but his favorite color has been green since he was a child; I knew we would incorporate that into our decor. The colors were forest green, sandstone, and white with pops of gold and brass throughout. During our engagement, we travelled around the French countryside together, and I was inspired by the French antiques we saw. It felt elegantly simple and timeless.
Ethan and I both love books and reading. Our wedding was kind of like a library, with books used as decor and the centerpiece for our sweetheart table. Also book themed, was our craft cocktail- A Tale of Two Teachers. It was a mixture of apple brandy and ginger beer and was finished with a lemon slice. It was a perfect warm, fall beverage and homage to one of favorite books and to our professions. Another special aspect we had made was the guestbook. We love to travel, and Ethan – as a History teacher – loves maps. We found someone who would custom make an engraved, leather bound atlas guestbook. Our guests signed next to places where they loved to travel.
My favorite moment of the day was our first kiss as husband and wife. For a long time we had been married in our hearts, but that moment it felt real. This moment was the physical embodiment of what our wedding day was truly about. It was the vow to love each other forever, taken in front of all of our family and friends. And, let’s be real, it was a really good kiss.”
