This fabulous team of vendors achieved an easy, breezy, and beautiful backyard elopement on our wedding blog today! We love the soft and Springy color scheme they incorporated and the eclectic feel of the entire shoot! Carlo Aranda, of Timber and Twine Photography, captured this beautiful couple and all the magic that Vivian Lin and Jessica Park of The Pointed Nib created!
With a growing number of elopements and backyard weddings, we thought that a “backyard” boho spring shoot would be the perfect inspiration for the couples wanting to go that route and pull in a little boho. We found an overgrown grassy field surrounded by brush and scattered trees within Los Penasquitos Canyon, nearly a backyard for San Diegans living in that area! We loved the wildness of the area and lush greenery, which definitely served as the perfect backdrop to our boho backyard feel. We found a perfect spot beneath a large, overhanging tree to set up our shoot.
We wanted our spring colors to have blush, taupe, cream, dusty mauve, muted teal, with pops of magenta, peach, and coral, and the gorgeous and lush florals by Vivian Lin did just that! The star of the bridal bouquet was a perfect magenta peony, the intensity of its color softened by pastel-toned hellebores and sweet spray roses. Larkspur, scabiosa, and clematis added a touch of wildflower wonder, while eucalyptus, acacia, and other foraged greenery provided rich texture to this trailing bohemian bouquet.
In keeping with the theme of the free and bohemian spirit, our tablescape and dessert set up was purposefully designed to not be too matchy-matchy. Vivian chose a mix of white ceramics and tin for the floral containers, and created each arrangement to have its own unique character and color palette. We loved mixing and matching the minty/teal glazed plates with the lightly weathered white-gray plates; both blended so well with our boho feel and colors. The clear glass chalices with etched sunflowers flowed together with the florals, and the copper moscow mules for the sweethearts were the perfect metallic pop. The delicious treats from Tiffany Lu of Panoply Cafe were a mix of dessert favorites, keeping things simple and sweet, rather than having a large, heavy cake. The variety of materials, patterns, colors, and textures came together to form a multi-dimensional, visually stimulating, yet cohesive tablescape and dessert spread atop the darling vintage farm table and white chairs from Rickety Swank Rentals.
The models, Seani Mori and Jody Tiongco, were photographed in the beautiful golden light of the setting sun. Seani wore a beautiful lacy and flowing gown that imbued boho and chic. We love that it was relaxed yet dressy enough for our backyard wedding inspiration! Her hair and glowy, natural-looking makeup was done by the talented Ruth Tang of Lavender Blues, and a dainty floral hairpiece, also by Vivian, added the perfect final touch to the ensemble.
This was so much more than a shoot, this was a story. We wanted to show what it would look and feel like to have a lower budget, simple, and intimate event for the couple to be able to enjoy and celebrate life and love without distractions. We want to extend a warm and hearty thank you to all the vendors who helped contribute to this shoot: Carlo, Ruth, Vivian, Seani, Jody, Theresa, and Tiffany.
