It is a rare and welcomed privilege when we get to capture a wedding for another photographer! Cody and Megan are two of the sweetest people EVER and their wedding day was nothing short of a DREAM! Each detail of their wedding was so carefully laid out, and we’ve honestly never seen a backyard wedding in Pennsylvania look more whimsical and gorgeous!
Megan and Cody hand-built so many of the decor pieces for their wedding day, including the triangle arch they were married in front of AND they refinished the gorgeous boat that held drinks for their guests. They also made small jars of hand-made salsa for their guests to take along with bags of tortilla chips. We can personally vouch that the salsa was DELICIOUS. Megan curated a vintage, whimsical set of items for me to use while photographing her small details. We loved the fans that her bridesmaids carried as well as the floral tie worn by Cody. She even did her own hair and make-up, which is really quite impressive.
They met through mutual friends and when it came to the proposal Megan said, “In his words: ‘the ring came in and I knew I had to ask you that night or I’d give it all away.’ He took me to watch the sunset at the most beautiful lookout, we made hot cider and talked and danced as the sun was going down. He stopped, got down on one knee and asked if I’d be his wife!! Of course, we were both crying as I said “I can’t wait!” We celebrated by taking a trip to Spring Gate Vineyard and spent the day wandering around checking out the food trucks and beer gardens then went to the beautiful Hershey Gardens and accidentally crashed a wedding. We ended the perfect day testing out wedding beers at Tröegs Independent Brewing and soaking in the new chapter of our lives together.”
What Cody loves most about his bride-to-be: “The way she lights up when she’s proud of the work she’s done, and the way she looks at me when I make her proud.” What Megan loves most about her groom: “His thoughtfulness and the way he cares for me, encourages me and shows me I’m loved.”
Cody is a two-time cancer survivor, and the strength and grace these two showed throughout his fight is a testament to a love that is grounded and true. Their wedding day was an interesting mix of rain, sunshine, and a tornado in the distance but Megan and Cody took it all in stride. The backyard of her childhood home was decorated with care, and there were a million beautiful details to photograph and film. Even the family dog found her spot snoozing under the gorgeous boat used to hold drinks and wine. From the handwritten vows and emotional first look to their first dance as husband and wife under the twinkling lights, it was the perfect bohemian wedding day! Check out their highlight film to see even more of the magic! Congratulations Megan & Cody! We couldn’t be more honored to have captured your beautiful day!
