We love when brides and grooms choose a location that holds sentiment to them. This stunning wedding is where sophistication meets the serene beauty of Nantucket Island. There’s a rule we swear by : never underestimate the simplicity and elegance of neutral color palettes. The soft hues of ivory, taupe, and gentle greys create a backdrop of serene sophistication. With delicate accents of greenery and natural textures, this elegant neutral affair echoes the island’s rugged beauty perfectly.
The couple’s love story,
“Our story began rather serendipitously when Taylor and I crossed paths at a local Dallas dive bar, Stan’s Blue Note, in January of 2019. We ended up abandoning both of our original plans and spent the whole night telling each other our life stories. From that point on things progressed quickly and we saw each other as often as possible.
Fast forward two and a half years, Taylor and I were engaged and trying to decide where to have our wedding. Living in Dallas and having family on both coasts as well as in the Midwest, we knew we would have to make some concessions. We tossed around plenty of ideas, but having grown up spending summers with family in Nantucket we kept coming back to the same conclusion: if we could figure out the logistics, we have to have the wedding on island.”
Wedding details,
“We chose to have our reception at the Nantucket Golf Club for many reasons. It had the perfect amount of space for our number of guests, and a beautiful view of Sankaty Head Lighthouse. Taylor Hays, from Nantucket Golf Club, helped us find our fantastic wedding planner, Caroline Ott, of Milly & Grace Weddings. Caroline was instrumental in helping bring our vision to reality. Living on Nantucket and having planned a number of weddings on island already, she guided us toward the best vendors and made our planning process seamless.
Our florist team, from Garden Gate Events, went above and beyond our vision. From building trees in the church for the ceremony, to importing flowers from around the world, they crafted an ambiance of dreamy elegance for the entire weekend.
One of our favorite aspects of the day was the ceremony itself. We wanted it to feel personalized. Our cousins sang and read verses during the ceremony, and we chose to write our own vows. Being surrounded by the people we love to witness our lifelong promises to eachother was the most special moment of the day.“
The reception details,
“Walking into the reception was surreal. Making our way into the tent filled with friends and family cheering us on was magical. The tent came out even better than we expected. We wanted neutral colors with black accents and foliage to feel simple and elegant. Filled with trees, flowers and personalized touches, the reception was out of a fairy tale. We wish we could take credit for how beautiful everything appeared, but it was the help and dedication of our talented wedding planner, floral team, friends and family that made the entire weekend something to be remembered.”
