Hawaii is a popular travel destination for good reason! Whether you are traveling to Hawaii for your honeymoon, wedding, or a family vacation, you are in for a full experience. We have been lucky enough to travel to the islands a handful of times, and are therefore happy to impart our favorite activities and hotspots with this guide to the Hawaiian islands.
Where to Go
The Hawaiian Islands are 6 of the most incredible islands on the planet. Whichever one you decide to visit will have beautiful terrain, impeccable beaches, and so much more. But each island is also distinct and special in it’s own right. So we outlined a bit about them all so you can decide on your own which island offers the experience you are looking for.
Kauai: Kauai is the greenest of all the islands, which is apparent from the second you arrive. The small island is packed with natural wonders such as Napali Coast, Hanalei, and Waimea Canyon. This is the island to be on if you are searching for outdoor adventure.
Oahu: Oahu is the most touristy of the islands and also the most populated but don’t let that scare you away. It’s a must visit for Wikiki beach, the North Shore (if you love to surf) and the can’t-miss Pearl Harbor memorial.
Maui: Wondering where you can find the road to Hana. Maui is the island. Maui also houses some incredible resorts in addition to downtown areas for shopping and dining.
Lanai: Even more luxurious than Maui, is Lanai. Head here for the ultimate escape.
Molokai: Molokai is largely unspoiled by industry and tourism making it the perfect island to invest in the Hawaiian culture.
Hawaii Island: Hawaii Island is the biggest island and therefore has a little bit of everything. Visit ‘the big island’ for adventure, culture, and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
What to Do
Hiking: the Hawaiian Islands are full of opportunity for outdoor adventure. Hiking trails are plentiful along the Napali Coast and Waimea Canyon. Prepare for plenty of stops because there is no shortage of lookout points.
Horseback Riding: Go where only the horses trot by taking a guided tour with CJM Country Stables. You may just find hidden valleys and secluded beaches.
Go for a Scenic Drive: The road to Hana is a popular option, but not the only scenic road around. The famous cascading Wailua Falls can also be seen while driving in Kauai.
Take a Helicopter Ride: One of the best ways to see the Hawaiian Islands is from the sky. Take a helicopter ride on any of the islands for spectacular views of the volcanoes, coastline, and rainforests.
Surf: Hawaii is known for it’s tall waves and and spectacular water. Take advantage of it by swimming, surfing, or paddle boarding! Plenty of beaches and resorts also offer lessons for first timers.
Where to Stay
The Hawaiian Islands are full of amazing hotels and properties. The Ritz Carlton and The Westin on the island of Maui are both great options and located right on the beach so you don’t miss a beat.
