White Nursery with Wood Accents

This sweet nursery comes with a super cute baby named Constantine. His mom, Mandy Forlenza, shares their story, challenges and triumphs included, with us here along with all the pretty photos. We love the all white nursery with wood accents. It feels light, airy, and modern. Aviation details add a little character to the space by way of framed prints and a super cool mobile.

These photos were taken to celebrate and remember the smile my son had the first three months of his life. Constantine was born with a cleft lip. The day after these photos were taken, he had surgery to reconstruct his nose and lip. We’ve since fallen in love with his new smile as well, however, I wanted to share our photos and story to perhaps help someone else.

Hearing any less than perfect news while pregnant is hard. Very hard. At 18 weeks we were told our son would be born with a cleft lip and possibly a cleft palate. I didn’t know it at the time but 1 in 700 babies are born with a cleft and it’s the fourth most common birth defect in the world. So why didn’t I know a single person who this happened to? It was an extremely emotional and confusing time but I did what every mommy-to-be would do and armed myself with as much knowledge as possible. I researched the best doctors, types of surgeries that would be needed and joined a Facebook group in solidarity for things to come.

We made it through his surgery but still have a bit of a road ahead. I feel lucky to have an otherwise healthy baby and know many parents with more complicated cases than ours. I will miss Constantine’s first smile and wish I could have told my 18 week pregnant self, it’ll all work out fine. Maybe someone out there needs to hear that too!

On a side note, the nursery has been my favorite styling job thus far. Even our rescue pup enjoys it daily.
