Tell us this bear themed first birthday party isn’t the cutest thing you’ve seen all week! Mama, Sally Shin of Pretty Little Events, threw a soiree for her little girl Nola that encapsulated all of her her favorite things. Illustrated teddy bears, woodland decor elements, and tangerine topped smash cakes speak to the cutesy theme.
Sally shares, When it came time to plan Nola’s first birthday I knew we wanted to incorporate her nick name “Nola Bear” and middle name Tangerine. We decided a “beary” special first birthday with whimsical touches of tangerines would be the perfect mix! Kristina of Kristina Adams photography captured the day beautifully!
For favors we created a “beary” botanical bar of dried eucalyptus leaves, chamomile flowers, lavender, and calendula flowers for guests to create their own aroma filled sachets to take home and enjoy later! Kids favors included whimsical woodland treats to include the cutest edible mushroom meringues by Sweet and Saucy Shop, a wooden twig pencil, and a traditional rice cake filled with strawberry compote.
Michelle of MKL Studio created darling illustrations, from Nola and her life sized “teddy bear” walking hand in hand holding a basket of tangerines to the both of them perched on a log peeling and eating oranges together. We continued the idea onto her cake and smash cake. Sweet and Saucy Shop added baby bear paw prints to the buttercream for the smash cake and recreated MKL Studio’s illustration on a hand painted fondant topper of Nola wearing her party dress for the main cake. And can’t forget about those tangerine shaped macarons complete with an edible wafer paper leaf and chocolate stem. Frances Mencias used the printables by Bonjour Berry as inspiration for the cutest bear cake pops to complete the dessert display!
