We all know it, we all love it. Mary Poppins that is. If you have seen the movie Mary Poppins, then chances are you know what we are talking about on the blog today. When this dual birthday party for two kiddos came through in our inbox, we knew we had a special gallery to share. To be specific this kid’s birthday party is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, and we know we are not the only ones that will agree. Scroll on to see some of the magic we are talking about.
The photographer shares and mom shares,
“Chim Chim Cher-ee, my kiddos are 5 & 3! This year my kids watched the original Mary Poppins movie for the first time. They loved every bit of it from the magic to the sing-along songs. As a mom of a boy and a girl, I know my window for “shared” birthday party themes is limited, but when I watched their eyes light up over the movie I knew I had found the perfect theme for their next birthday bash.
This party was filled with such colorful and decorative DIYs that can all be done at home in just a few simple steps. I knew I wanted to make kites so I used some old material from my great grandmother. The lace had a little stretch to it which was perfect for the craft. I affixed dried florals to the kites using hot glue and was able to give them a whimsical pop. Then using backyard greenery I was able to make the string completing the kites in a soft and subtle way. Beautiful floral cloud puffs were created by Graceful Garland Co. and Kaylyn from the Pirouette Paper Company assisted with creating a beautiful quotation backdrop. We chose our favorite quotes and oh how they are perfect for days like today, “There’s nowhere to go but up.” and it was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
For this modern Poppins party, I decided to use the Daydream Society’s “Happy Everything” collection. With a variety of colors and shapes to choose from, it was perfect. Using their color pallet “Moon and Blooms” created a 15ft runner and some amazing shape balloon cut-outs to match. Our cute and unique name tags and penguin stir sticks were made by Creative Amme and they gave the tables the perfect finishing touch.
Our activity tables allowed the kids to decorate hats and kites before being entertained with a live and interactive magic show. I mean what kid, or adult for that matter, doesn’t love a little magic?! We always tell our kids that there is magic in everything if they look hard enough, and if they can’t see it, then they must create it.
Just a cone full of sugar makes these munchkins get down. Also, what’s a party without some sort of sugar?! We went big in this department and had it spun-up for cotton candy clouds by Sweet Puff Candy and baked into delectable florals on sticks by Frost Your Cookie.
This party helped us return to our childhood dreams and was one for the ages. Over here we are forever inspired by the imagination, wonder, and fantasy of Mary Poppins. We hope our kiddos never forget to find the magic in the world as we continue to encourage them to dream. Hope you find this bash to be a Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious as we did!”
Did you think this kid’s birthday party was as supercalifragilisticexpialidocious as we did? If so then we think you will love this Coachella themed birthday party just as much!
