We’re big fans of Rebecca Minkoff handbags over here, and so naturally we expect her baby shower to be just as chic and fun! Her sweet friends put together this wonderful lavender affair inspired by RM handbags of course! The Quilted Mini, Moto Mini, & Amorous Satchel spurred the color scheme (who wouldn’t be inspired by these pastel beauties?!) A parade of fashion editors and bloggers were in attendance of course – including Teen Vogue’s Andrew Bevan & Jane Keltner De Valle, and Lucky Editor-in-chief Eva Chen – to celebrate this designer’s baby girl on the way!
Little details included lavender filled apothecary jars, lavender bottles complete with circle liners that matched the invitations, and lavender pacificers underneath cloches. Purple-themed vintage books were used to anchor floral centerpieces and served as conversation pieces. Titles included: “Henry and the Purple Crayon, Purple Toast, and the Big Purple Activity Book.” Guests donned photobooth props including purple feather boas, purple top hats, purple beads, mustache, and eyeglasses.
Who hosted the shower?
A few of my girlfriends I’m so thankful for. They threw me the most magical baby shower.
Why did you decide on a couples shower?
I thought it would be more fun to have everyone I love in one room, men and women and it would be a bit more of a modern baby shower.
Were there any special moments you’ll always remember?
I knew nothing before I arrived so walking in to Fitzcarraldos and seeing all the surprises, friends, family and decor was just amazing.
How did you come up with the nickname ‘baby gouda’ for the baby? Is there a story behind that by chance?
Yes. I have a 2.5 year old son Luca. One day I asked him what he wanted to name his baby sister and he said Gouda! I don’t know where he got it from but she’s been Gouda ever since.
What were your favorite details from the shower?
Everything was so beautiful. The minted invites, flowers, minted photo backdrop, the little minted flags that said “Baby Gouda!”
What did you think of the lavender / purple theme?
I loved it! I’m not a pink person so lavender and grey was girly with out being overt.
What did you think of having a photobooth at your shower?
How fun! It made for some great Instagram photo ops.
How do you like your heart print guest book? Do you think you might hang it in the nursery?
Absolutely! It has such sweet little notes from all the people I’m close to.
