Mother Daughter Tea Party & Maternity Photos

This designer and mama threw her and her daughter the most precious and pretty tea party – that happened to be the perfect setting to capture her baby bump! We love all the sparkly details, the yummy treats – and little Kennedy’s reactions to it all! Megan of Megan Martin Creative explains how this idea for her mother-daughter maternity photos was born and all the confetti and excitement that went into planning it!

I am pregnant and due with my second daughter August 20th and wanted to capture this time, but do so in a non-traditional way as I am way too awkward in front of the camera 😉 So instead of the usual posed maternity session, I decided to throw a Tea Party for just my first daughter, Kennedy, and I to enjoy together in the spirit of celebrating each other and our newest best friend coming very soon, Baby Esley!

Kennedy is only 2, so she really didn’t know what a “tea party” was. So about a week before the day, I started telling her all about how we were going to dress up in princess dresses, drink lemonade (her favorite beverage!), eat cookies and donuts and wear floral crowns. We talked about it just about every day leading up to the party and every time we did her eyes would light up and she would gasp in excitement! When the day finally came, she was so excited to tell her daddy all about how we were having a Tea Party that day!

These images are truly priceless to me. They bring me back to her excitement over the simplest of things like drinking as much lemonade as she wanted, smelling the pretty flowers and our favorite, tossing confetti! And Debra perfectly captured our bond as mommy and daughter along with all of Kennedy’s expressions! We can’t wait to welcome baby Esley into the family, but soaking up all these last moments with our only daughter (ESPECIALLY in sparkly princess style!) has been such a joy!
