Little Drummer Boy

What could be cuter than a mommy & baby photo session inspired by daddy? The baby boy’s bottom probably, but not much else! This little drummer boy photo session was inspired by his drummer daddy and all the places daddy has toured. The result: some pretty priceless photos capturing the sweet boy and his momma’s love for him in the woods and under a teepee. Mom shared with us how she dreamt up this super cool shoot.

My shoot style inspiration was something that just came to me after many hours of trying to “shop” for props. I realized all the things I was looking for were items from our own travels. When you have a traveling husband and you’ve toured the country with him, you’re pretty much going to come across beautiful finds here and there. Picking them up along was my new hobby! One that my husband also was into. He found the drum we used while on tour in South America. Argentina actually. And I came across the handmade arrows in Sedona, Arizona, along with a tomahawk which was hand made by a young boy from the local tribe there. I started with those pieces then included Our babies favorite thing which he sleeps on… The baby lambs skin. It really helps control moisture and regulates body temperature while your baby sleeps! A serious must. I also threw in his dream catcher that I had hanging near his crib. Since my detail palette was neutral I needed to find one last thing to be the anchor in his photos… I remembered seeing canvas tents at Restoration Hardware Baby&Kids, they can be a bit expensive but they will be a long lasting play tent! And who knows maybe end up in another shoot!
