Bright Pink First Birthday Party By The Sea

Pink striped umbrellas, floral linens, and giant balloon installations make this first birthday party by the sea ultra fun! The bright pink palette is carried through every element of decor, and is quite fitting for the sweet baby girl. Mama, Dominique, planned it on the shores of San Diego for friends, family, and their kiddos and made sure everyone had a one-derful time. Between cake, beach games, and a bubble entertainer, how could they not!?

Dominique shares, The month before Sophia’s first birthday party, she spent a week in the hospital battling the flue. As a family, we were so focused on getting her well that a party was the last thing on our minds. But, when she got better, I was determined to make her first birthday a celebration of the beautiful addition Sophia is to our family.

The location was the inspiration for the party. Sophia loves a good sea breeze. Plus, I wanted to take advantage of the gorgeous San Diego weather. The theme for the party was “Sophia by the Sea.” I think children’s parties can be stylish, and most of all, lots of fun for the kids. The Boathouse in Coronado featured a beach and grassy area, patio with sweeping bay views, and a nearby playground. It was perfect!

Green Fresh Florals did a spectacular job on the flower arrangements and the high chair garland. The cakes by Cake Batter Batter were not only beautiful but delicious as well! The decor for the party centered on the Kate Spade fabric I found. I immediately loved the bright bold colors. The fabric was featured in the table runners, and I even used it to make custom pillows for the outdoor seating. For the kids tables, I searched for fun alternatives to traditional seating, and found the cutest picnic tables with pink striped umbrellas. The tables were set with gold flatware, gold rimmed cups, striped plates from Daydream Society, and white knotted napkins.

Beijos Events assisted in the tablescape designs and floral colors. Each place setting featured a pair of sunglasses for the kids, which they could take home as favors, along with a beach bucket and shovel. Balloon lab made my dreams come true with their amazing organic balloon installations. They found and custom painted the round arch for me, from which I hung the letters from 48hour Monogram.

Stripes are a signature for my family (we had them at my wedding and at my son’s first birthday!) so, I added some pink and white striped towels. For the grown-ups, we had cold-brew coffee station featuring our favorite local coffee shop, Public Square, with pink rock candy sugar sticks. We all enjoyed the amazing catered Mexican food and rounded out the day with a fun, bubble show for entertainment. Thanks to Danielle McBrayer of DA Studios for the pictures!
