How could we not love this casual and cozy courtyard boho baby shower in sunny California?! The muted but rich color palette and relaxed feel (complete with pretty couches to lounge on) bring the bohemian theme – throw in a Mexican menu and it’s a Cali girl’s dream! Jennifer Bishop Design created this beautiful day to shower her lovely friend and described it all in perfect detail to us here:
We designed this Boho Baby Shower for our good friend, PJ Rude, Owner & Lead Stylist at Milk Glass Vintage Rentals. While she does own a vintage rental company, PJ’s personal style is much more eclectic; which made the choice for going boho, a pretty obvious one! The fun part was taking her antiques and using them in a fresh, new way.
This courtyard boasts a staggered brick patio, canopy of shady trees overhead and even historic artwork. PJ’s vintage collection is swoon-worthy, of which we took full advantage of when furnishing the patio. To give her vintage pieces more of a hip vibe, we incorporated lots of geometrics shapes, live plants, and textiles.
The Aztec patterned rug set the stage for our lounge area. Atop sat vintage upholstered furnishings layered with a collection of pillows in green, pink, purple, brown and black. Framed photos from PJ’s maternity photo shoot were the perfect accessory for the lounge area. Handmade dream catchers swayed from the trees and gave a calming affect when viewed from below.
The beverage table served ice tea and sangria with vintage purple and green glassware from PJ’s personal collection. The black and white striped food table was the perfect piece to mirror the boldness of the rug we had in the lounge area. A breezy tent in an ikat zig zag pattern set the backdrop for the delicious taco bar. Guests dined in the center of the courtyard on reclaimed wood tables styled with a collection of golden mercury glass vases and pottery pieces . Potted cacti, leafy ferns, fresh flowers and elements of gold finished the ensemble. Guests took home one of a kind arrow stamped reusable tote bags to remember the day.
