It’s always fun to see how creatives
decorate their homes, and Laura’s, of
Events in the City, blue and gold nursery for her baby boy is no exception. We fell in love with the space the second we saw it so shout out to her for sharing the decor deets with us on our baby blog!
When I found out that I was having my second boy I knew I wanted his room to have character and style. I loved the idea of grey and navy with a pop color instead of the traditional baby blues and sage greens. I headed over to Caden Lane which is an awesome and much more fashion forward site for baby and children’s bedding and fell in love with the set you see here. Everything I designed for the room was because of that adorable bedding pattern.
I kept my eyes peeled online and in store for interesting geometric patterns and modern objects that could also translate for when he was older or even better for me to reuse somewhere else down the road. Some of my favorite finds were the marble and gold shelves from CB2 and the perfect white and gold speckled baskets from Home Goods.
The artwork was really important to nail as well since I really wanted something modern but not too abstract. I found a great artist on Etsy and we created and tweaked a few of her existing prints to match the theme in the room. My favorite one says ‘Grit & Grace’ which was in the last entry in my moms diary before she passed away and something that I have now taken on as my own personal mantra in how to handle life.
My aunt has always said to me that the ceiling is the fifth wall in the room, so don’t ignore it. We certainly didn’t let that happen in Jack’s room. With some help from my Event Manager Brittany, who is especially crafty, we adhered these easy to work with gold triangles from MUR in opposite directions to match the bedding pattern. I love how this turned out and so does Jack!
Jack arrived three weeks early and we had just finished his room the day before he decided to make his big debut. We couldn’t be more over the moon with him and I really think his calm, cool demeanor fits his hipster nursery just right.
