This Winnie the Pooh baby shower put an elegant twist on our favorite childhood character. Winnie the Pooh books dotted the lounge, tablescape, and dessert display in addition to plenty more pooh bear details. We love the whimsical stationery and calligraphy signs that add an extra personal touch. Everything is SO sweet and special – especially the big brothers enjoying the setup :). We know you’ll love hearing the designers at Gathered Table Supply tell you about the day and their inspiration.
This classic Winnie The Pooh baby shower was intended to be a surprise for soon to be mom, Malena. The biggest surprise of all came when baby Romeo arrived five weeks early! We still managed to keep the shower a secret from mom while we pulled together our own Hundred Acre Wood. Hosted by family, this shower was beautifully set against a backyard lake and filled with Winnie the Pooh details.
For us, Winnie the Pooh was an important part of our childhood. Its classic stories and characters sparked our imagination, which made planning this baby shower so much fun! The Winnie the Pooh theme inspired the colour palette of soft blue and honey and is reflected in many of the details of this shower. Janice Lee Photography captured the entire event making for a memorable day for mom and baby.
The day started with the elements working against us: strong winds and chilly temperatures and honestly our initial excitement started to turn into worry on how we were going to execute this and not have everything blow away. We put our heads together and decided to stay optimistic! The ideas started flowing and the real magic began. For example, the banner, which was originally designed as a table runner, ended up being moved inside as a backdrop for the dessert table which in the end was probably better than the original plan! In the end we were all just happy to provide a beautiful and memorable experience for this new mom.
The tablescape was inspired by a tea party held in the Hundred Acre Woods with Pooh and his dear friends. Mixed plate styles were used to intentionally reflect the quirkiness and fun of Winnie the Pooh, while elegant cutlery and centrepiece choices provided by Fall for Florals added the elegance expected from this traditional story. Of course Pooh’s favourite treat, honey, needed to be included and made for wonderful party favours.
Blissful Paper Co. penned quotes from Winnie the Pooh making the pages of the story jump to life in the decor. Quotes took the place of place cards on the table and a gorgeous script banner hung behind the dessert table, a vintage Singer sewing table, where Pooh fittingly watched over our locally produced honey from Drizzle Honey as well as delicious treats from Crave Cupcakes and Ollia Macarons and Tea.
Snuggled together on a vintage sofa from Cellar Door Vintage Rentals, Romeo’s cousins read vintage Winnie the Pooh books we had when we were younger while waiting to meet their new cousin. When mom and baby arrived for their surprise we all got to know Romeo a little better and he met a bear named Pooh.
