Let us tell you a story on our lifestyle blog today of a wonderful company that hosted this warehouse dinner party full of meats and treats and cocktails both shaken and stirred. Wouldn’t it be fun to throw dinner parties all the time?! Well Willow + Niche is the master not only behind this delectable affair but many many others too! Owner, Kara Dykert, shares a little bit about why gathering together for dinner and drinks means so much to her, and we echo her sentiment completely:
A meal is something that should be nourishing, delicious, and community-oriented. I think that sharing a meal with people you care about or perhaps barely even know can be one of the most nourishing events of the human experience. It engages our physical, spiritual, intellectual, and emotional appetites. Sharing stories and laughing over dinner reminds us that our busy schedules deserve to be interrupted simply to take time to enjoy being alive with other human beings. I whole-heartedly believe that the art of dining together is a pastime worthy of reviving.
Take a peak at this “Whiskey Wednesday” Kara hosted at her downtown L.A. loft for friends! She welcomed guest chef Marlene Bernstein of Savour this Kitchen for an incredible, delicious, diverse menu of delights, all incorporating Savour This Kitchen’s own spices and sauces! And try out the Maple Whiskey Gypsy recipe, they so kindly provided us! (Yum!)
The Maple Whiskey Gypsy:
1 1/2 oz Maple Whiskey (I use Tap 357)
.75oz maple syrup
1 heaping Tablespoon pumpkin
Large scoop of ice
Gypsy Spice- From Savour This Kitchen
A splash of ginger ale
In a cocktail shaker, combine the pumpkin, whiskey, maple syrup, and ice. Shake thoroughly. Pour the entire contents into a cocktail glass. Splash with ginger ale and sprinkle with the Gypsy Spice.
