Nothing compares to a home cooked meal, but when you work 9-5, squeezing in time to research recipes, grocery shop, prep and cook can be a bit much! We’re helping out with one of those steps by rounding up our favorite cookbooks we use on a weekly basis. So the next time you need a simple home cooked meal, or inspiration for a dinner party, crack open one of these and instantly be inspired. Warning: it may take some self control not to make everything all at once.
Danielle’s books, Against all Grain & her most recent Meals Made Simple, are our favorite for gluten-free and paleo cooking. While we don’t have any gluten-allergies in the office, her recipes offer healthy and light alternatives to some of our favorite meals!
Barefoot Contessa’s How Easy is That
We may or may not have an Ina Garten obsession in our office. While all of her cookbooks are amazing, our go-to for weekly winners is How Easy is That, and can you guess why?! Simple ingredients, dishes that require minimum prep, and a delicious result. Give her “Weeknight Bologenese” recipe a spin and tell us you’re not hooked.
We may have broke out in a happy dance when one of our favorite food bloggers announced she was writing a cookbook! And boy were we in for a treat. The pages may be covered with sauce drippings and dried pizza dough, but that just goes to show how much love and attention this book gets. From stuffed poblano peppers to homemade pizza dough you can make in 45 minutes (yes, you read that correctly) we. are. hooked.
Every now and then we’re inspired to just get our bake on! This book is our go-to for the most delicious baked goods. Its pages are full of everything from savory biscuits and quiches to sweet loafs and muffins. If you love brunch, this is a must have in your cookbook collection!
We may not be full-fledged vegetarians, but we can appreciate a #MeatlessMonday every now and then. This cookbook is chalk full of refreshing salads, savory main courses and simple side dishes to make a complete meatless meal. Plus skipping meat once a week helps keep the grocery bill down!
The Glorious Pasta of Italy, The Glorious Vegetables of Italy
The Glorious EVERYTHING of Italy – From Soup to Pasta to Veggies – we’ll eat anything that hails from Italy. This set has simple recipes that you can throw together after working a long day, to homemade sauces that you can let simmer for hours while home on a Sunday afternoon.
