Since moving to San Diego, CA, last year, after graduating college, I have really taken advantage of having outstanding Mexican food back in my life. When I’m not working, one of the most common places you can find me is the best spots for tacos! If you’re ever in San Diego and are in need of a great taco, this is the guide for you!

Cafe Coyote
If you’re looking to go somewhere for more than just delicious food, Cafe Coyote is your place. Whenever I go to Cafe Coyote, located in Old Town, I feel like I’m on vacation. This place has the perfect ambiance that is perfect for taking someone who’s visiting town and is also perfect for Instagram pictures. Their tacos have an authentic take that really hits the spot. Another perk about Cafe Coyote is their margarita flight that comes with six different flavors delivered in a classic muffin tray.
Puesto
Puesto has a few locations around San Diego, so if you’re looking for more of an elevated taco, this is the place! I love hitting Puesto for a Taco Tuesday girl’s night. My “must-have” here is the Filet Mignon Taco- it just melts in your mouth! When I come here, I always make sure to get the Nogada Guacamole to share & a round of Mezcal margaritas.

The Taco Stand
When you go to The Taco Stand, you can expect to see a line out the door, but don’t let this discourage you- there’s a line out the door during prime hours for a reason. Even though this is an article about tacos, I have to mention how amazing their California burrito is. I order it there more than tacos, but you cannot go wrong with anything you order from The Taco Stand. If I am to get tacos, I go with the Grilled Pescado Taco (Mahi Mahi) and the Pollo Asado Taco.
City Tacos
City Tacos crushes the street taco game. You can find City Taco locations all over town and even in Petco Park. It’s not a Padres game without a mid-game City Taco stop. This is a perfect place to get a little pick-me-up if you’re in a time crunch. The Pacific Beach location is a block off the beach; it’s one of my favorite places to grab a bite for lunch, take it down to the beach, and enjoy with a book in my hand!

Go Go Amigo
When you first walk into Go Go Amigo, you’re greeted with bright-colored garlands that hang from the trees. New to Liberty Station, Go Go Amigo is primarily an outdoor restaurant that gives more of a modern take to the typical Mexican restaurant. They have a great selection and are a perfect summertime Taco Tuesday spot- $3 street tacos! Such a steal!
The beauty about living in San Diego is that no matter where you go, you’re almost guaranteed to find one of the good spots for tacos. Since I only lived here for a year, I can’t wait to continue to find other fun spots and add them to my go-to list! If you’re from San Diego or have any places you love! Submit them our way; we’d love to check them out!
