This week has been all about our #IBTtravels so today we’re taking a trip down memory lane with our editor Ashley, who traveled to Spain this past May exploring Barcelona! She’s sharing a bit about her stay at Primero Primera Barcelona, the city, and tips for anyone planning a trip to one of our new favorite destinations!
Barcelona is a truly magical city! I’d only ever heard great things about it so our exceptions were pretty high before arriving.. but everything everyone said was exactly on point! The people are friendly, the streets are beautiful, the beaches are serene and the atmosphere is romantic.
We stayed at the Primero Primera, one of Barcelona’s highest rated hotels. Family owned, the boutique property had 30 bedrooms available for guests, ensuring a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The hotel is about 10 minutes outside of the city, just a quick hop on the train and you’re there! While we loved or time touring around Barcelona, it was nice to head back to a relaxing pool and atmosphere.
My favorite site of the city was La Sagrada Familia. It’s the pride and joy of Barcelona, and is a site that must be seen in person – photos just don’t do it justice! Other highlights included walking Las Rambles (a stop at the Mercado de La Boqueria is a must!), enjoying drinks on Barcelona Beach and taking a walk down to Olympic beach and eating al fresco every night!
If you (or someone you know!) is heading to Barcelona, I’d definitely recommend checking out Primero Primera for your stay! Also, be sure to bring comfortable shoes for viewing the city on foot or on bike – the best way to do it! And be sure to make it to at least one of Gaudi’s sites. La Sagrada Familia was my personal favorite, but the Parque de Gaudi was also spectacular (and free!). Happy travels!
