We’re so excited to share a super unique modern, eco-friendly beach home today! The house is a beautiful old historical house, steps from the sand, and down the street from Waikiki beach…but millions of miles in terms of design! Nam and Meeta fell in love with the house as soon as they saw it, but knew it needed a lot of love put into it. Their overarching goal was to make it difficult to tell what was new and what was original, while creating spaces that matched how they lived.
They tried to be as green as possible during construction which to meant reusing as much as possible and creating as little waste as possible. They carefully removed all of the roofing tiles and lumber and saved them for reuse. All of the original tiles were put back onto the new roof and new tiles were used toward the back of the house so that the front appearance would be consistent. All of the lumber was reused to frame new walls for the main level. What a unique way to be Earth friendly! We’re loving the design with each room looking different and embracing it’s own style.
