A total reno can be time consuming and pricey, but that doesn’t mean you can’t makeover your kitchen! Refreshing the space with a few simple updates (check out that faucet!) can make it feel brand new – without a hefty price tag. Also, the changes were minor enough that they took practically no time at all. In fact, we finished everything in a few hours! It’s perfect if you’re looking for a productive weekend project. So, here’s how to transform the look of your kitchen in 5 quick steps complete with before & after photos.
Declutter
The first step in refreshing your kitchen is cleaning it up! Make the space more functional by taking everything off of the countertops before you make any changes. Then, you can see what you have and reuse & repurpose the items you want to keep.
Fix up your faucet
We can hardly believe the impact that switching out the faucet had in the kitchen! The height and sheen of this brand new solid brass faucet from California Faucets changed the entire look of the space. The complete package of matching accessories and a pull down spray head are some of our favorite features and the satin chrome finish we chose matched the other hardware perfectly. Furthermore, with a painless installation and affordable price, it was and is totally worth it!
Find a place for everything
Before we found this cool magazine rack at Room & Board, our cookbooks were leaned up against the wall. Needless to say, they used to get crumbs and water all over them. So we thought this was a great way to organize them on the counter. Additionally, we needed a place to store all our cooking utensils, but didn’t want to use something that didn’t blend with the decor. The gold and white ice bucket was the perfect fit. Don’t be afraid to use unconventional objects to achieve the look you want!
Focus on accessories
Small decorative objects are the easiest way to change the way your kitchen – or any room for that matter – looks. Switch up your decor seasonally, or any time you’re trying to fill or use up a new space. We went the route of displaying common (but cute) kitchen items. By simply bringing out our favorite fancy mugs and bud vases and displaying them on a breakfast tray, we were able to create something bright & eye catching. Plus, now the sugar is in an accessible spot!
Fresh Flowers
We hardly need to mention it, but fresh flowers are a sure way to update your kitchen. This is by far the cheapest – and best smelling – method to bring in something seasonal and full of color.
