We’re lucky enough to be working on different things everyday but some weeks we’re still chained to our desk and feel a little slugish by day’s end. So we put our heads together and came up with how we can make the work week a healthier one – these 4 tips are a great (and easy!) start. Put them into practice and get your whole office on board!
1. Start Sitting differently
These pretty pink cushions have saved our seats (and back) at work. The SitSmart from Backjoy literally positions you in such a way that you sit straighter – an easy correction for our natural hunch over our computers. When it comes to posture, we’re lazy, so this helps a lot. It’s a simple fix to incorporate into your office and ward off back pain. Ouch. Plus, the SitSmart comes in a variety of colors – like this pink that coordinated so perfectly with our pink patterned carpet :).
2. Start Tracking your steps
We have all jumped on the Fitbit train, and so should you! 10,000 steps? You got it. With coffee walks, lunch breaks, and after work exercise we try and beat our mileage each day. These Fitbit zips are small and easy to slip on your belt loop or bra strap so you can accurately track your daily steps. As on office we recently started a little friendly competition to see who can squeeze in the max amount of steps. We can keep tabs on each other via the Fitbit app too! Don’t worry, we’ll be sharing more on how this all goes in the future :).
3. Take a screen break
Staring at the computer screen all day leaves our eyes tired, and is just plain bad for you. Whether it’s a walk around the block (to up your step count!) or taking your lunch away from your computer (and phone!), we have found it super valuable to spend some time away from the screen.
4. Motivate yourself with encouraging apparel
Who doesn’t love cute & comfy workout clothes?! Our version of casual Friday? Coming into the office in our tennies and tanks. It encourages us to walk and workout if we have cute apparel to do so in, like these Tee Chic muscle tees that have cute healthy puns on them! The creator, Kara Stout, is also a great resource for healthy recipes and detoxes too!
Totally love the muscle tees! 🙂
Such good ideas! I need a fit bit stat!
Really love all these ideas and hope to integrate them into my office environment. Thank you!
They’re the best 🙂
Yes, its amazing!
You’re very welcome 🙂
LOVE! I am in search of a new office chair and desk… currently sitting in an antique from my Grandmother’s collection at a desk that is barely big enough for my iMac and stash of nail polish I keep handy. Where are the desk and chair from?!
The chair you sit in for 8+ hours is SO important!! People don’t realize.
those shirts are SO cute!!!
Exactly our thought!
