It is finally the most festive time of year. The holiday season! The entire month of December provides the opportunity to hold special events with loved ones. That being said, this children’s Christmas party is the perfect inspiration. Each detail holds the magic that young children love about Christmas. From Santa Claus to the reindeers, no character is left out. Moreover, even the candy canes make their presence known. Even the food is festive! No children’s Christmas party is complete without hot cocoa! Take a step into the world of Christmas cheer and gain some holiday spirit along the way.
Planner of the event, Sarah Taub of Fig & Whiskey, tells us of the magic behind this stunning children’s Christmas party,
For this whimsical Christmas I teamed up with Jasmine Williams from Sunny and Ted to showcase her new line of inclusive paper goods. Sunny and Ted is a holiday shop with the goal of diversifying the products available to consumers. They provide Black and Brown holiday ware so that families of every ethnic background can enjoy Christmas and the holidays with home goods that look like their loved ones.
I had been following Sunny and Ted for a while and was so honored when Jasmine reached out and asked if I would style something for her new line. When we started brainstorming for this shoot, she told me that she wanted to create something that would appeal to all in a whimsical way. We wanted to bring in some jewel tones, bottle brush trees, mini Christmas trees, and a small dessert table.
The line has sort of a retro vibe, so I wanted to lean into a vintage look. I brought in tinsel trees, candy canes, miniature flocked deer, vintage-inspired ornament place cards, and tufted velvet floor cushions. It would feel approachable for kids and like a throwback for adults. I loved pulling inspiration from Jasmine’s line, her design was so fun to bring to life!
Josephine Bakery provided the most perfect candy cane striped meringues in our orangey-red and earl grey palette, raspberry pavlovas, and a Christmas cake which added the sweetest details and the best treat for the end of our shoot day!
Domonique Rose made arrangement after beautiful arrangement that filled Christmas boxes to the North Pole, decorated the mantel, flanked our yummy desserts, and made the whole house smell amazing. I absolutely love how her florals kept the design grounded and sophisticated, while also enhancing the whimsey of the space.
Creative Amme created the custom ‘Merry and Bright’ signage in the Sunny and Ted font, as well as the vintage ornament place cards and mirrored reindeer drink stirrers. I love how she snuck in the stars from the Sunny and Ted logo into the ornaments! She always provides the most thoughtful details to her designs!
Jasmine said “While our products may look like just mugs, plates, and paper ware it’s much deeper than that. I often get messages of excitement from parents whose children were excited to see a Santa who looks like them. In hindsight, that feeling of empowerment and beauty is what I needed as a little girl. Knowing that people feel joy and see beauty in our products, and therefore themselves, brings everything full circle for me. We all deserve a seat at the table, and we deserve to see ourselves in the products we use while making memories with our loved ones.”
The line will be launching this fall and available on the Sunny and Ted website!
