We’re kind of obsessed with Loverly and excited to feature it on the business blog today! We’re utterly grateful to it for streamlining the wedding planning process and making it less like a scavenger hunt and more like, well, super fun! This tech company is anything but black and white with a pink-color-popped office space that makes us happy just looking at it! We can see how Kellee Khalil and her team are constantly inspired and keep on growing from a peak into their NYC headquarters!
We’re totally obsessed with Lover.ly! Tell us a little about how it started and what it is!
While working in the bridal industry and simultaneously helping my sister, Leila of Inspired by This and Be Inspired PR plan her wedding in 2010, I experienced firsthand how disjointed the wedding industry was. Scouring hundreds of retailers, blogs and vendor sites, I was frustrated by the inability to search wedding ideas, shop products and hire vendors in one place. It was at that moment that I committed fully to solving the bridal search problem. Today, Loverly is the one-stop-shop forever changing the way brides and grooms plan weddings. On Lover.ly, couples discover big day ideas, shop top designers, get expert advice, organize inspiration and find their wedding day dream team all in one place.
Your office is so adorable and not what anyone would expect from a tech company! How did you find this cool NYC space?
When looking for a home for Loverly HQ, I knew we wanted to be in a vibrant area of the city. We decided on the Flatiron District because of its central location, at the intersection of the flower market and the fashion/garment district…perfect for a wedding company. Our space works well because of the open floor-plan, which allows transparency in our workplace and for us to all feel connected as a team. Plus, it’s personalized with just the right amount of pink!
How many people are in the office on a daily basis?
We have 16 full time employees, a handful of interns and, of course, our office mascot Oliver!
The Lover.ly headquarters are full of fun pink details! How did you incorporate that part of your branding into the office without going too overboard?
Although it’s our signature color, I wanted to remain tasteful with the pink details. The overall style of our office is modern and sleek, with small feminine touches. When designing the space, it was important for us to bring the brand to life not only through color but also essential wedding inspiration. While we do have a pink accent wall and a few pink chairs, we also have floor to ceiling inspiration boards, bridesmaids dresses, a wall of stationery and a faux cake or two.
Did you craft any DIY projects for the office?
Yes! One of the first decorations we put up in the office was a wall of hand-cut paper hearts. The wall has been the central spot in our office for almost two years now, and it has been used as the backdrop for countless interviews and photoshoots. We also try to incorporate wedding trends and styles into the decor through mood boards that we have hung around the office.
What is your favorite part of the office and why?
My favorite part of the office is the wall where we have framed all the iterations of the Loverly site. From day one to now, the site has really evolved and I love being able to show office guests the progression of the company. It’s also a great visual reminder to our team of how our company has grown over the years, and there’s still so much left for us to do!
Thanks for including us on your site today! 🙂 XO
I don’t just want to work here…I want to live here!
