What is the value of a good website? A pretty website will only get you so far, it’s the work that’s behind the website that is going to take you to the next level. Have you put the hours in yet or did you just put up a cute website and hope for the best? Whether it’s through education, hands on experience, or creating your business model, time needs to be spent crafting and fine tuning your talents. As with anything in life, doing something worthwhile takes time.
The same can be said for businesses that pop up “inspired” by what others have done… aka, copycats. To them I say: You have long road ahead of you to achieve the respect and credibility of those you’re trying to be! Successful businesses are built on the foundation of multiple trial and errors, trust and the know how that the work is never done. The wisdom to grow, change and evolve with clients, vendors, and peers doesn’t come overnight. My business foundation came from working from the bottom up and understanding the needs of all my vendor peers: photographers, designers, etc. I know I’m standing on a solid foundation and no amount of re-branding, relaunching or copying can ever replace that. What about you?
90% of what separates good businesses from bad is stamina. If you’re committed to putting in the hours to work on the foundation of your business and not just on the appearance of your business then success is in your reach. I don’t mean 15 minutes of fame in the wedding industry, I mean a viable businesses that is able to endure changing trends, up and coming vendors, turns in the economy and time. It’s definitely not easy, you have to earn your stripes which can only be done if you’re sitting on a solid foundation.

Agreed… too few vendors spend the time and effort to actual research and understand. Asking others for information gets you the info quick, but you’ll lack the basic fundamentals that you gain from trial and error.
