How gorgeous is this black & white wedding on our wedding blog today?! this couple whisked their family and friends off to San Clemente, California for their beautiful day by the beach. The pops of burgundy and red were classic and elegant, as were the candlelit garland table centerpieces. The Casino venue even matched the color scheme. We love the emotion the bride and groom carried throughout their day, that Gideon Photography captured so beautifully. From elated to romantic to giddy, their faces show the heartfelt joy that filled their wedding.
From the Bride:
We found inspiration through our favorite pastimes: Hitchcock movie marathons, and leisurely days spent at beach. We wanted to have a timeless, elegant look, but the bottom line was we wanted people to have fun. The Casino San Clemente is a glamorous, Old Hollywood dance hall located steps from the ocean, in a classic So Cal beach town. Most guests were traveling from out of state, so we wanted to provide a welcoming destination outside of LA that, once guests arrived, they could relax and enjoy themselves. We love to entertain, and had events planned throughout the weekend. The night before our wedding we hosted a beach bonfire complete with guitar and maracas, and hired a taco cart to cater. The night of our wedding, we had a karaoke afterparty at a dive bar around the corner called Knuckleheads. Everyone drank rummy rootbeer shots and sang karaoke all night long.
Throughout the planning process, our motto was “Is XYZ going to make the wedding more fun?” If something felt trivial, we skipped it, and focused on the basics: lots of great food, great music (we curated our own playlists), and a great photographer to capture the day. We used a classic color pallet of black & white with pops of burgundy, and had a running theme of “champagne” throughout- right down to our day-of coordinator, Pop The Champagne, who not only kept our toasting flutes full, but orchestrated the whole event perfectly. Instead of a band on the grand old stage at The Casino, we projected a dance montage by The Flashdance that set the tone- we never left the dance floor.
Our favorite part of the day, by far, was our wedding ceremony. We really wanted an intimate, heartfelt ceremony delivered by someone who knew us well, so we asked Andy’s cousin to be our officiant. Everything went perfectly, until he pronounced us husband and wife before, accidentally, skipping the I Do’s! When we stopped kissing and realized, we burst out laughing, said our I Do’s, and then got to kiss twice. It only made the moment that much more memorable.
