Playful & Retro Kids' Ice Cream Party

With school out of session for summer, and the weather nice and warm, a retro kids’ ice cream party is the perfect way to spend a day! Full of photo booth fun, ice cream treats (ice cream cones, ice cream cakes, ice cream shaped cookies, and even ice cream decorated invites), and a troupe of super cute kids, this block party couldn’t be more adorable. Take A Seat Events planned the mint & pink masterpiece and Amanda Dumouchelle caught it on camera, balloons, confetti, and all.

The retro Hello Ice Cream truck was really the lead inspiration that every design detail was influenced by. The muted pastel colors from the truck were the perfect backdrop to which we added contrasting bright shades (of pink, blue, mint and yellow) with classic stripe and polka dot patterns to the forefront details to provide a modern, kid friendly, summer twist!

The table setting is meant to have a very clean cut, sophisticated feel to it—with the white folding chairs, crisp linen, carefully crafted bow-tie napkins and the rose centerpieces. With the children dressed in all preppy J. Crew outfits, carefully selected and styled, we wanted to make it feel as though this was an ‘adults party’ but in a stylish children’s world! Adding the colors and patterns to the linens, napkins and flowers was the key that made it inviting for the youngsters. Jess Kasteler blew us away with the perfect invite, signage and name card suite that pulled together all of these aspects to complete the design.

The two vintage carts were hunted down and painted the exact shades needed (mint and yellow) to house our milk station and photo booth accessories. These retro pieces tie together the elements of the ice cream truck and the amazing dessert display by Sweet Heather Anne! How perfect is that cake with the ice cream cone as the topper?!? Heather really created a masterpiece that not only the kids, but we were just in awe of!
