Think you’ve seen the Mickey Mouse theme done before? We bet they have nothing on this Mickey Mouse birthday party on our baby blog today done with a twist by The Shift Creative. Alexis pulled together this party for her friend’s little boy’s big number 1 and she made us fall in love with Mickey all over again! Incorporated in paper balls, foam centerpieces, dessert, and the color scheme, Mickey was subtly everywhere. Here’s what she did to make this beloved character come to life in a whole new way!
After The Shift Creative was hired by a sweet friend to take on the task of creating a Mickey Mouse birthday party for her 1 year old, we steered away from the typical Mickey in all its party plates, and streamer glory, and opted for a more modern take accompanied by tassels, fringe and greenery. I created the fringe backdrop in the red, black, and white colors that we all love when we think of Mickey, but substituted the yellow with metallic gold to add some glitz to the party. The centerpieces consisted of potted plants, black pumpkins, and clear vases with red rock candy, and Mickey heads that I made out of styrofoam balls. Influenced from Disneyland, each place setting was adorned with vintage creme and black cherry sodas. Swaying in the wind, hung 128 tassels staggered overhead to create a truly magical party.
Accompanying a donut and coffee bar, was a custom Mickey Mouse installation. Adapting the front lawn of Disneyland with its flowers and Mickey head, I built a modern take that included white peg board as the base, circles of paper and moss, and greenery inserted throughout the board to create a 3D effect.
If you are looking for a classy way to represent Mickey, this party is for you!
