Tips and tricks for planning your own DIY baby shower.. or any DIY party are coming your way on our baby blog today! Kiira from Eye Heart Pretty Things and Amy Stone Photography pulled got crafty with peach and teal tones to make this baby shower a heartfelt hit! Here’s how they created it all:
Amy and I teamed up to create a beach inspired baby shower brunch for our dear friend Heather. We hosted this baby shower near the beach, and were inspired by the colors of the ocean, turquoise and aqua, paired with coral and muted peach tones. To make this shower budget friendly, we did a lot of DIY projects with found items (that means free!) like seashells and tree branches, which we spray painted metallic gold. We also saved old vegetable cans and sprayed them gold and planted miniature succulents in them as centerpieces. Yarn wrapping is a great way to bring your color theme throughout the event on a budget, so we bought 3 different colors of yarn from the craft store, and we wrapped the yarn around our golden branches, mason jars, silverware, and even the handles of the ice buckets. These little details add a handmade and meaningful element to the decor. The tissue paper garland and the twisted tissue paper bubble garlands are also super simple DIY decorations that add a dramatic flair to the setup. For the dessert table, we wanted a meaningful decoration piece that we could give to Heather for the nursery. We used the same yarn wrapping idea on a wooden board. Using nails, we created the letter shapes of the soon-to-be baby boys initials, and wrapped the yarn around the nails to create dimensional geometric letters. Using the leftover wood and nails, I also created a heart shaped yarn board.
A way to keep floral arrangements affordable is to check local markets. We found some beautiful roses at Trader Joe’s, and paired them with jade plant from my garden in mason jars. A simple and beautiful way to create centerpieces for the table.
Since the baby shower was on a beautiful summer day near the beach, we wanted to keep the food and drinks fresh and light. Fresh lemonade and iced tea in mason jars sitting on ice. Mini caprese skewers, loaded baked potato bites, melon cups, individual crudite jars, and a light chicken salad served in crisp tart shells. To complement the small bites we had a cheese and fruit board and For dessert we served lemon bars, strawberry shortcake in individual mason jars, and glittered almond cookies rolled in turquoise and gold glitter.
