Foggy Beach Proposal

We hope you are as enamored with this love story as we are (we keep reading it over and over again!)! We’re such saps for engagements! With elements so thoughtful and unique to the couple’s time together, like a handmade wooden ring box and just another handwritten note on the windshield, Chris’s love for Jamie is so apparent. Not only is this a beautiful beach proposal, but also an emotional reunion from long distance love. Chris and Jamie’s beautiful relationship all leads up to this proposal, witnessed and captured by Kelly Marie Photography, (can you imagine watching her appear through the fog?!) but we can tell it’s just the beginning to the incredible adventure their embarking on!

I met Chris through a mutual Cal Poly friend. When he asked me to photograph his proposal to Jamie, I was ecstatic. I had been wanting to photograph a proposal for quite some time and feel it’s an honor to be witness to such an intimate moment.

Chris and Jamie met at their Morro Bay church just over a year ago. Chris already knew he’d be moving to Missouri and a long distance relationship was not on his mind. But, over time, he became drawn to Jamie. In June, she helped Chris find a job working for her father milling wood. After spending hours at her house working, Chris would often join Jamie’s family for dinner. It was in her dad’s workshop that Chris would later make the box to hold Jamie’s engagement ring.

It didn’t take long for Chris to realize Jamie was the girl he wanted to marry. He began leaving cute notes on her car, and by August, they were a couple. It was one of these notes that Jamie found on her car the morning of the proposal, asking her to meet Chris on the beach of Cayucos. This is how the beautiful proposal unfolded. Chris always told Jamie their story was like a romantic comedy. After hearing their story and seeing their proposal, I don’t doubt it.

I believe this is a story about believing in what you want out of life and going after it even with the knowledge that obstacles lay ahead. Chris now lives in Missouri; Jamie will join him after the wedding. When these photos were taken, the couple hadn’t seen each other in 3 months.
