The honeymoon! Let’s be honest, it’s the bride and groom’s favorite part! Today we have Katie Frederick from Ever After Honeymoons breaking down the hotspots from 2013 and where couples are choosing to go to in 2014! We can’t wait to hopefully check some of these gorgeous places and properties off of our bucket list one day too!
From Katie…
For couples who took their honeymoon in 2013, Italy and Bora Bora were the top two, hands down. Contrary to popular belief that couples always somewhere tropical, Italy was by far the most popular destination I booked! Some of my couples paired Italy with another spot in Europe and made it more of an adventure trip which I always enjoy booking. Some wanted to visit the major cities and others spent their time in smaller towns. But almost every couple enjoyed some time in the gorgeous Amalfi Coast region! Some of my favorite properties in Italy are Palazzo Avina, Le Sirenuse, and JK Place Capri.
And then the overwater bungalows in Bora Bora are just too good to resist! This is a trend I don’t see dying down anytime soon! If Bora Bora is on your list of possible honeymoons spots, check out the Four Seasons Bora Bora (my absolute fave).
A lot of my of couples actually waited until a few months after their wedding to go on their honeymoon! Delayed honeymoons can be a great options for couples who have to save up some time off at work or want to spend time with their relatives that are in town for their wedding!
For 2014 honeymoons, I’ve been getting a lot of requests for Maldives! It’s exotic and has lots of gorgeous new resorts opening. Definitely look into staying at Six Senses Laamu or Cocoa Island Resort. You can even combine a trip there with a stop in Dubai (somewhere that definitely should be on your list! I love The Palace Downtown Dubai!). You’ll get your over water bungalows while still being somewhere super remote, secluded, and romantic.
South America is another newly popular spot! It has so many different areas to explore with something for everyone! It’s another place where there’s lots of new boutique hotels opening and you have the option of staying in the city, at the beach, or somewhere full of adventure. Not to mention the great food! Check out Ponta dos Ganchos, Entre Cielos, UXUA Casa Hotel & Spa, and Hotel das Cataratas.
I keep hearing my couples say that they want something “different”, somewhere none of their friends have gone, which I love! And a lot of people want to pair a really relaxing spot with a more adventurous area or city, which is a great way to see two different spots! No matter where you go, I would encourage you to find a property that feels really unique to the destination!
