Rifle Paper Co is no doubt one of our all time favorite creative brands! Have you seen their stuff!? At this point, we’re sure you have! They’re everywhere from Anthropologie, Land of Nod, Paper Source, and every little boutique that carries cute paper goods. They create some of the most amazing calendars, notecards and notebooks, iPhone cases, and tons more goodies with beautifully hand drawn details! Anna Bond is the ridiculously talented, amazing, we all want to be her, mastermind behind Rifle Paper Co so we were so excited to chat with her about her business! The creative industry is a hard one to break into and Anna has done it so flawlessly that we just had to ask her some business advice.
Name: Anna Bond
Company: Rifle Paper Co.
Title: Owner and Creative Director
Location: Winter Park, Florida
What does a typical day in your position look like?
I wear a lot of hats but my main job as creative director is to oversee the creative direction of the company as well as design and illustrate our products. I typically get to the studio at around noon and work until 2am. I’m often meeting and working with our team until 6pm and start my creative work in the evening when all is quiet. I’m trying to work more normal hours but that’s been my schedule for the last four years.
What is your favorite part of your job?
I’m fortunate to do what I love with amazing people.
Where do you find inspiration for your job as well as everyday life?
I find inspiration in travel, fashion, nature, quality time with friends, and the time spent alone to process all of those things.
What has been your favorite moment/event to be a part of with your job?
When I saw our products in a store for the first time it was a pretty special and surreal moment (and still is).
Best business advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I’ve received is to be flexible. I definitely have a rough plan of what I want to accomplish and where I think the company is headed but I always allow for unexpected changes. In business, things can change on a dime and that can be really challenging. I want to make sure I’m headed in the right direction even if it’s by a different path than I expected.
