Seattle Wedding with Succulents, Flower Crowns and Handmade Details

I love this laid back Seattle wedding!  The bride and groom are extremely creative and did most of the wedding decor themselves! I love the succulents, the astilbe, and her amazing flower crown! SO CUTE! Sometimes all you need is love, and family and friends to make the wedding just perfect and I think this couple pulled it off flawlessly! Here’s what the bride had to say about the planning process and everything that they made themselves for the wedding:

“For our attire, I wanted to be comfortable all day. I didn’t want to worry over my dress or shoes. So I picked a simple cotton and lace dress from a local belgium designer. I don’t even think it was a “Wedding Dress.” It was something I felt pretty in and was easy to dance in.  Our bridal flowers were local seasonal flowers from the Pike Place Market. We picked them up the day before which were peonies and added accents with the same color scheme. I ended making them really late the night before with the bridesmaids and binded them with some wire, ribbon and pins, the same with the boutineers. My floral crown was the only thing I had made. I saw a very modern flower crown from an online fashion spread and thought it looked stunning. I had to have it for the wedding. I called up a local floral designer, gave her my color scheme (green, white, gray) and a photo of the style crown I wanted. The rest she put together and I LOVED it. We ended up only spending about $120 on flowers…TOTAL! Our center pieces were donated glass canning jars of all sorts of sizes from friends on the island. Our parents, neighbor and friends picked flowers from their garden the morning of and placed them together for us. The idea was to have one variety of flowers per jar and it didn’t have to be overflowing, the look was for a garden themed tablescape.  Our cake was made by the local island cake shop. It was super simple, a white chiffon buttercream cake with strawberry cream in the middle. We picked the succulents off our garden and gave them to the shop to arrange for us. Our arbor wood was carefully picked by us straight off the local beach. Andreas’s dad and a bunch of our friends twined and drilled the arbor together the morning of the wedding and decorated it with the left over flowers from our bouquets. Afterwards we either threw the wood back into the water or the hard driftwood were cut into coasters for us as keepsakes.  I  have a digital imaging degree and was able created a website for our digital invitation and rsvp. All the mailed stationary and invitations were also designed my me and printed through kinkos on their nicer thicker paper.”
