You have got to see the tones of blue on the ceiling of this spectacular church! There is so much to admire about this magical day. The bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen’s fashion pair perfectly with the venue. As if that was not enough, the reception space takes it to a whole new level. The flowers and details on the table keep the theme flowing in a beautiful way. We are obsessed with the bride’s long-sleeve gown that draws in everyone’s eyes as soon as it enters the picture.
The couple behind this wedding of tones of blue gave insight into the day,
Our wedding theme manifested after selecting two juxtaposing venues; an ornate historic cathedral for our ceremony and a bright modern art museum for our reception. I was further inspired by the Cathedral’s palatial ceiling, painted in the most stunning shades of blue. Hence the theme, “old meets new with shades of blue.”
This theme was woven into all aspects of the wedding, including the stationery suite, the bridal party attire, and reception décor.
As a Jane Austin fan, I’ve always been infatuated with the art of calligraphy and wax seals. In an age of electronic communication, I thought it would be special for our guests to open their mailboxes to a hand-addressed envelope. About six months before the wedding, I purchased a quill and ink and started practicing calligraphy. After extensive trial and error, I was thrilled with how the invitations turned out. I used bold white ink on a rich navy envelope to achieve a dramatic effect. I also created a custom crest for our invitation suite and had it turned into a stamp to make wax seals.
We’re obsessed with the different tones of blue this wedding incorporated. There is so much room to create something amazing for your own wedding with this inspiration. Looking for more ideas? Check out this Blue & Ivory Backyard Wedding!
