Tip #1: Buy a Hardshell Suitcase
The desire to pack every outfit possible is tempting when going on vacation. Plus, who doesn’t like having options? Although to avoid overpacking, consider purchasing a hardshell suitcase. This way, it’ll be pretty difficult to pack the unnecessary extras, and you can stick to the items you’ll need.
Tip #2: Make a List Of What You Need & Revise It!
Before you start packing, make sure you write a list of what you’ll be wearing and what you’ll need. Once you make a list, you can revise it from there. A friendly reminder is that laundry is always possible on a trip, and you don’t need to pack your entire wardrobe. That being said, try to think of the items you’ll realistically use and pack accordingly.

Tip #3: The Clothing Countdown
The clothing countdown is essentially taking the number of days you’ll be on a trip and then planning the number of clothes you’ll need. If you’re going on a week-long journey, then you can count the number of pajamas, underwear, pants, and tops you’ll need.
Tip #4: Roll Up Your Clothes
So, at this point, you’ve revised your list, discarded the extras, and are only packing the essentials. What now? The best trick to optimizing the space in your suitcase is the roll-up technique. All you have to do is roll up each article of clothing and pack them closely together. This will create more space and ensure that you can fit everything into one suitcase.
