Can you dig it? Step into the world of this 70’s inspired 2nd birthday party to find out. The true essence of well-done retro is present in each photo of this magical party. As a result, you’ll find a new favorite detail in every scroll. First, the bright color-blocked balloons captivated us. Then it was the multitude of backdrops and neon lights that are basically begging to be photographed. With a space like this, the opportunities are endless. Hence the impressive presentation of color and joy that we get to view below!
The planner of this incredible party, Sarah Taub of Fig and Whiskey, gives a behind-the-scenes take on the day,
Poppy Rose with her event designer mom and vintage car builder/photographer dad put together this Grow with Love, 70’s inspired 2nd birthday party complete with a retro backdrop, shag cakes, and fairy forests. Creative Amme created the most perfect signage that made for a perfect backdrop for guests to take photos as they walked in. We set up a lounge area in front of our VW square back which also acted as the gift table, and a really fun play area for the kids to crawl around in. Don’t worry, we hid the keys!
Also, the second lounge area was perfect for guests to relax and cool off. Since this was our first real gathering of the year, the ‘Better Together’ neon signage from Archive was the perfect touch. The kids table was set up in the backyard complete with a 64’ sq ft balloon wall. Not to mention the most adorable bamboo tableware from Bonjour Fete with party hats from Ellie and Piper. Sticking with the vintage vibe we went with floor pillows for the kids.
Rogue and Fox knocked it out of the park with her amazing florals! When we were talking about the look we decided it would be fun to have color blocked arrangements. As a result, it kept the design fun and sophisticated.
Since we were still keeping everything outside, we definitely tried to utilize EVERY corner of the backyard. Creative Amme made a ‘Make Your Mark’ laser cut for the kids to draw on the chalk wall. My husband even set up a fairy forest for the kids to explore behind our fig tree. I have to say, this was one of the most popular spots for the kids to hang out! I fell in love with the Polar Bear Kitchen smoothies a few months ago and knew I wanted them to be a part of Poppy’s birthday. Their mission is to create unity from change through the unique culinary blends of their smoothies to bring awareness to cultural and social issues. They are an amazing company with kind hearts and delicious smoothies. They even made one named after Poppy, and it was SO good!
The Familia Rodriguez Taquiza served up some of the most delicious tacos I have ever had. They are a really talented family-owned company. Everyone loved their food! For dessert, Butter Cake Shoppe made the most beautiful shag cakes. We went with cupcakes for the kids, and I love how they created a crochet poppy design to tie in that 70’s flair! Between the shag sun cake, the retro speed stripe cake and the pointillism cookies it was fair to say that their designs really took the cake!
The kids took home gift bags filled with stickers, coloring books, dinosaurs, and grow capsules. The bags, designed by With Love and Confetti, read “Let them live like flowers, wild and beautiful”. This birthday party was the perfect garden for our wild and beautiful, Poppy Rose.
