“As we all know, COVID-19 hit the United States pretty hard. With the shelter in place guidelines coming from the government, it caused the southern California wedding industry to go into a standstill. As the guidelines + restrictions recently began to lift a group of vendors and I decided to come together to create a small piece of magic at home. We hope to inspire couples that although weddings are not going to look like they did in years past, it is still possible to create something beautiful and special in an intimate setting. Love isn’t canceled, we simply pivot to create something magical.
As for the design, I was inspired by the color schemes of the back patio we did our main ceremony space/sweetheart table at. With the terra-cotta colors of the patio, I decided to go with a Celestial Desert Wedding Scheme. The idea was, if we can’t go to a desert oasis, let’s bring the desert oasis to us (safely of course!)
With the help of some paper lantern stars, outdoor globe lights from Target, a mix of pampas, succulents, touches of gold and pops of burgundy + a village of fabulous vendors wearing masks, it all came together to create a breathtakingly beautiful wedding shoot. Despite COVID-19 and the craziness it has brought for so many of us, I’m excited for all the micro weddings we will hopefully be able to do this year. I hope this inspires some couples out there that with a little bit of pivoting and vendor magic, you can make any space beautiful.
Even when you plan out all your details, sometimes things fall through/plans change. We had a last-minute cancellation with the florals that made us have to pivot ourselves! I ended up scavenging for florals between my parent’s backyard + a tree by the side of the road the day before our shoot, as well as picking up about $15 worth of flowers from my local Trader Joe’s to help me create all the florals (along with some gold spray paint!). I am not a florist by any means but I am happy with how pretty everything ended up looking! Pulling this shoot together would not have been possible without AMAZING team of vendors who collaborated with me. It truly takes a village to make magic like this happen!
From the beautiful rentals by West + Rose, the fabulous reception dress from Lexi + Liv Dresses, the amazing tux by Friar Tux (Their rental service makes it SO easy for Grooms to get their suit delivered straight to their door!), the swoon-worthy calligraphy by Calligraphy by Michelle, the show-stopping balloon decor by Balloonique Designs, our rockstar photographer Pam Jeneanne, and of course the epic photo bus by The Booth and Bus Co…Everyone totally made my vision come to life!”
